Well bringing the HD clips online did allow for an SD mixdown but why don't I ever recall and error caused by offline clips in a video mixdown? Have I just been lucky all these years?

I want to see how much I can relink to the online media so I wanted to make a video mixdown with the offline media before I unmount the low res drives and relink to the online full res drives. When I try to do this I get an error saying some of the clips are offline or in the wrong format. Well there are about 3 regular, not matte key, graphics in the sequence and because I unmunted the online drives they are offline. I don't recall having an issue with offline media when doing a mixdown before. Is offline media a problem when doing a mixdown? I thought it would just create a mixdown with media offline in those parts, matching my excellent T-shirt by the way. Or is it that the offline clips are 1080I HD and the rest are SD 10:1? I seem to recall issues in the past when there were HD graphics in otherwise SD offlines and mixdowns were a problem but that
