Re: [Avid-L2] video mixdown reduce quality?

IIRC, Video Mixdown uses all the processors while rendering doesn't. That certainly helps things to go faster!

I've successfully been doing the following:
1- Video Mixdown.
2- QT Reference (with only the mixed-down video track and the audio tracks active; and I have Avid create an audio file as well).
3- Encode for DVD using Adobe Media Encoder (I like Compressor, but figured I'd better get used to AME, since Apple may kill Compressor at some point). Or if I'm going to the web with shorter scenes, then I'll export out of QT-7 Pro.

I agree that SaS works great, it's just that for a long show it adds a lot more time to the process.

Cheers,

B

So I have been making video mixdowns and then the QT ref which seems to eliminate that problem. If I want to master out to Pro Res this way, any quality hit or is it best to export to Pro Res right out of Avid?
