That's correct - export an AAF from Avid, use AutomaticDuck to import it
into FCP, relink the media if necessary, then export an XML and they can
import that into Premiere.
I just did a test with a short, :15 DSLR spot (transcoded media). I
exported an AAF with AAF Edit Protocol checked, Include All Video/Data
Trakcs, Include all Audio Track, Link to (Don't Export) Media.
Autoducked into FCP where I manually relinked the media. Exported XML,
imported into Premiere, done. If I had AMA relinked the Avid sequence back
to the original DSLR footage I might not have had to relink manually in FCP
but I don't have time to test that right now. Hopefully you won't have to
do the reconnection dance in FCP to get this to work or it could make for a
painful day.
I'd love to hear if there's a better way than this, too. Hopefully someone
else knows something easier and faster.
