The best I can do for you is to mention getting one of the large 4 button Kensington trackballs. I map the upper right button to be (keycombo)+Drag. That KeyCombo being the Lock Horizontal Movement option. On a Mac with MCv6 it's Apple+Shift+Drag. While it's not a short cut it does mean that I can do the dragging with a little less precision and not hold keys or buttons down as I do it.
