I had fantasized on this list around a year ago that the "Free" (and limited) version of Resolve would make a nice, fully-integrated replacement for the existing CC Tool -- with the ability to upgrade to the "Full" version (also fully-integrated into MC/Symphony).
...A win-win for Avid and BMD, IMO. But, of course, it was just a fantasy and as others pointed out -- it might not be practical.
I do think it makes sense for Avid to acknowledge their core competencies and not expend precious R&D resources face-lifting the existing CC Tool -- whose basic functionality can be most generously described as long-in-the-tooth.
