[Avid-L2] Time Code Generator needs to be rendered for output?

 

IIRC the big news a while back was Avid finally got a TimeCode generator that worked in real time.  I can play my sequence out in real time but if I try a digital cut it wants to render the timecode effect.  This is a 1080I 59.94 project.  I the time code effect only RT in SD?  I have a safe color limit effect over the whole sequence and it is completely rendered and the time code effect is on a track above the safe color limit.  Just curious what others have experienced.  I'm on a mac SNDX 4.0.5.
