yep, Toast is still THE burner app on the Mac. See here:

Don't know exactly about the current version but when we bought Toast 10 we had to buy the "BD/HD"-Plugin separately to be able to burn videos to Blu-ray.
According to the Roxio website Toast 11 burns Blu-ray - so you should be fine with this.
They still have a BD-Plugin and if I understand correctly you need it only if you have a movie file and want a video BD. See here:

Check to see if you need it really or buy Toast 11 Pro if money doesn't matter!
Well, BD-burners..
About half a year ago we tested several BD burners from HP, LG, Pioneer and Plextor as we have 20+ Avid & FCP Systems. All Burners works well, non was bad, but the HPs & Plextors performed best. We noticed differeces especially when reading from discs, but don't remember details.
And well, it's too bad that there's no way to playback a Video BD on a Mac besides using Bootcamp or Parallels. Even Toast (at least v10) can only write to BD - or did I miss something here?
Internal or external BD drive?
Usually the second bay for optical drives in your Mac Pro is empty so you can put the BD burner in there. But make sure to remove the bezel from the tray so that it works with the Mac Pro's drive doors!
If you want to have it in an external box get a FW800 5,25" housing and you'll be fine. Of course eSATA and USB 3.0 are also options, but not as easy as FW800 for current Macs.
