Park your cursor over the play button and do nothing.
Then hit play.
Notice the difference? Nope.. nobody does.
the FUNCTIONALITY of the play button is to have the icon glow distinctively when you are in play mode. This has been a fundamental feature of Composer since the Quadra 950 days - Take 100 edit systems and connect 'em up to 30 decks- you sure as shit better have real confidence of the mode you're in- or things are going to get real messy real fast.
And I kinda don't care about the Avid forum for this subject. These are the sorts of posts that used to get pulled down - Speculation on the future they would say.
It's a bug, plain and simple- might be a bug on purpose, but it's a bug that needs fixin'.
