Ok,
I already know the pain is coming, but I need to toss this out there anyway.
I am planning to purchase an ultraportable. This will primarily be used for my photography business, but I am curious if I can get away with running Avid MC on it. I don't need it to be fast, or very powerful. I don't need Avid to bless it since I know it will fall outside the lines. I'd just like to have an "emergency" editing unit for when I am on the road and not taking one of my other units with me.
The advantage of the Air over some other units is the Thunderbolt port which should let me hook to some fast drives. All I'd likely be doing is dumping cards to a drive, opening an MC project, making bins, and maybe doing a quick review. I'm not going to be doing full cutting with it.
Anyone tried this? Or anyone know of a good reason why I shouldn't bother?
Thanks, and try to keep the stone throwing to a minumum. I'm already wading into the Apple stuff sheepishly after swearing I would never own a Mac. This would be my third Mac in a year. I feel so much shame. :)
