Hi Jay,
I worked on a doc that we shot in North America on this same camera. The
project started in 2009 and we onlined this past November. We shot in 24p,
thinking that the technology would improve by the time we onlined... (it
didn't). We off-lined in a 1080/59.94 project with the intention that this
would end up being broadcast.
I would second Ben's suggestion that you do the initial capture at full res
if you can afford the drive space. We off-lined in DV25 (downconverting
thru the M35U deck) as we had approximately 100 hours of footage. The
pitfall there is that the M35U deck isn't capable of batch capturing... we
had our online place test and it didn't work. We had to convert the 24p
tapes to 59.94 tapes and used the 1500 deck to batch capture. That worked
like a charm.
The way it was explained to me: the SDI does the pulldown from 24p to 59.94.
Hope this helps. If you have any specific questions, you can email me
directly. I don't check this email that often, so you should email me at
