[Avid-L2] Re: Pulling Video From YouTube

Hi,

in addition to what Steve said, I want to add that this works fine for me since I've installed Perian on my MBP.
See here: http://perian.org/

Just copy the video file's URL from the activity window, e.g.
http://o-o.preferred.belwue-str1.v20.lscache5.c.youtube.com/videoplayback?sparams=id%2Cexpire%2Cip%2Cipbits%2Citag%2Csource%2Calgorithm%2Cburst%2Cfactor%2Ccp&fexp=908302%2C910100&algorithm=throttle-factor&itag=34&ip=193.0.0.0&burst=40&sver=3&signature=53FCCD9028BE6FDBBF5CE4776E6CC6FEC55D6D61.0E67475F3C24AAF8EA5A9198AB7076AEE496E759&source=youtube&expire=1327341705&key=yt1&ipbits=8&factor=1.25&cp=U0hRTFNPT19FT0NOMV9LSVNIOjJXcV9Wdi1vWWNW&id=1907c9a32aec71c3

..and paste it into the Downloads window and usually it puts a 'videoplayback.flv' onto your hard drive.

Although it works fine for me, be warned, some users had problems with their Avids when Perian was installed!

Hope this helps!
Ben

Open your YouTube page, play the clip you want and check out the activity list. The biggest file that shows up is probably the video. You'll see a large file in the Activities monitor (MB instead of KB) downloading as the file plays. I think you can just drag that file to your hard drive when it's done playing.
