[Avid-L2] Re: Media Composer 5.01 to 5.5 instal tips

Robert,

If you have MC 5.x and you are running a dongle based system then there is no need to deactivate anything as you are not using the SW licensing scheme.

However you do need to update the dongle to support 5.5. When you buy the uprgade you get 2 codes. One code is a serial # that will activate the SW lciensing scheme and is a 25 digit code that starts with J. The second code is a dongle upgrade code which is also 25 digit and starts with MC.

You will need to trade in the dongle code ( MC one ) at www.avid.com/upgrade Seect MC 5.5 from the pull down menu and then enter your system ID, dongle ID, dongle code, name and email address. The name must match the original registration whereas the email can be the one you are at now.

If all is legit... voila... updater.avd file is provided.

www.avid.com/dongle if you need instructions on how to actually update the dongle. People forget all the time even long timers....

Ping me if you need help....
