Hi Dave,
Sorry I'm not by my machine. I think you're right. The new compressor will probably have more. One thinkg I forgot about Apple was that you don't have to do an uninstall to put on a new version. They seem to be self contained. I have both 4.0 and 3.5.3 on the same system. I believe that what the others have said is true, proxy came after 3.0. I have no way right now of trying a way to move a codec into a folder that 3.0 can read. The $50 version is a painless download since it downloads and installs. A bonus is that everytime there is an update, the App store Icon indicates that it is available. My FCP and Motion 5 updates have been free and easy.
Best Wishes,
Paul

Paul -
did everything you outlined, but when I got to the pulldown menu, here are the only Apple ProRes options available to select:
Apple ProRes 422
Apple ProRes 422(HQ)
Apple Pixlet Video
Apple Intermediate Codec
there's a gazillion HDCAM & DVCPRO recipe's but thats all for Apple
Maybe Dennis is right ? I think the most recent version is 5.0 and its available as a $50 download from the App Store, so it looks like thats the direction I headed....Oh well
Thanks guys for the quick response's
