POSITION: Technical Operations---Production Sound and Protools
DEPARTMENT: Sony Digital Arts Center
LOCATION: Los Angeles Campus
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
The primary responsibility of this position is to assist the AFI Conservatory programs with production audio and post-production audio.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES:
• Instruct fellows in the use of AFI owned Protools and production sound audio equipment;
• Monitor and assist Fellows in the completion of their Protools session for Cycle Production;
• Consult with AFI Fellows on the production audio of Cycle Production and Thesis Production. Schedule meetings with individual groups when requested, to aid in production sound improvement;
• Consult with AFI Fellows on the post-production audio of their thesis projects;
• Inventory audio equipment throughout AFI campus;
• Be current on new audio techniques and involved in acquiring Protools and audio equipment upgrades;
• Help with the set-up and maintenance of audio equipment throughout AFI campus including the upkeep of the Protools rooms;
• Participate as crewmember on AFI sponsored projects;
• Other duties as assigned.
EXPERIENCE/SKILLS REQUIRED:
• Minimum five years experience with ProTools and production audio mixing;
• Ability to troubleshoot audio and Protools problems quickly and efficiently;
• Minimum five years experience with professional video production and post-production equipment and techniques;
• Minimum three years experience with dialog editing and re-recording, music editing and sound effects editing
• Minimum three years experience with importing consolidated files and original audio material into Protools
• Minimum three years experience with exporting files for layback on Avid systems

This position is under the supervision of the Director, Sony Digital Arts Center
