We always transcode to mxf.

The whole idea of it just doesn't seem to lend itself to editing with, more taxing on the CPU, poorer media management, no QT ref etc it just seems like a step backwards. Love that i can see files quickly and make selects but the thought of a full on sequence with effects and things is pretty scary. My workflow is still use it to get files open in Avid, transcode to offline res, edit, relink to AMA and consolidate for online, playout etc. works great and no relinking headache. Always use the tape column to aid in relinking - give the offline res clips a unique tape number then give the AMA clips the same tape number before trying to relink.
