I am trying to do the >2GB AAFs for archiving promos as well. It isn't
working on 5.0.3.7 on the Mac, and it didn't work for me on the PC, though I
don't remember if the PC was 5.0.3.0 or .7 Large AAFs of the finished
promos from Symphony work fine, which is what I want to archive anyway.
I had been wanting to use an embedded AAF to send offlines to finishing.
Much of the time we work from dailies delivered to us on HDD at DNxHD 175,
so we send the consolidated media on to finishing along with the cut. Using
a media files folder works well enough, but I like the elegance of a single
file.
For protools, I change to NTSC 23.98 and create a DV mixdown.

Curious where are you sending the aaf's with HD video? Is it for Protools
picture reference? I've been mostly SD of late and they export .dv streams
for our protools set up. Were running protools 7.4.2 ish. They had problems
with version 8 a year or so ago and just back revved and stayed there
because it works for them.

Media Composer, on a Mac. Â When that facility upgraded to version 5.0.3.9
we ran into issues on larger AAFs. Â I have made AAFs as large as 12 Gigs in
the past, but now, AAFs larger than about 2 gigs just don't work when I go
to re-import them. Â Also, there seems to be a upper celing of 4.29 gigs
that they just won't go bigger than, and export fails.

luck. Â I can, however, back rev to 5.0.3 and AAFs work fine again.

and large AAFs are still broken. Â I just downloaded and installed Mac MC
version 5.5.3, and same problem. Â I have rebuilt settings, made new
sequences, created new projects, nothing works, except downgrading to v
5.0.3.

5.5x is that AAF audio only exports with consolidate and embed is broken
too. Â It builds an AAF, doesn't consolidate, but includes ALL audio media.
Promo for a 30 second spot of a movie ends up being well over a Gig.

audio to another volume, and then make an AAF of the consolidated sequence.
