Some thoughts to pass along to the muckity-mucks at Avid.
I saw this blog post which may be of interest to Avid and the Marketing folks there.
Quote from the end of http://www.onerivermedia.com/blog/?p=294:
"I admittedly had strong animosity towards Avid back in those days. I still think they're a bit of a pompous company, if ya ask me, but at this point, I feel joining the dark side of Media Composer may end up being the best thing for us at this juncture. I know at the very least it wont hurt us in trying, and if it meets or exceeds our expectations, then all the better."
I say:
NOW IS THE TIME for Avid to woo those new customers. It is time to help dispel the concept of Avid as "pompous" and as "the dark side," and to alleviate some of the (admittedly silly) animosity that exists. Avid really, really needs to extend the $995 offer to FCP people. They can run a campaign saying that they could have gouged people and put the price back to $2.5K, but they are instead extending the $995 offer for 60 more days (or whatever).
I agree with you... The iron is RED HOT!
