[Avid-L2] Re: Canon XF305 Timecode Issues

I think I've found a workaround.

You'll need to drop a sequence into te source monitor so you can now choose 'master' as a timecode reference option. Now load your XF footage and you'll be able to enter timecode.

It seems the Avid doesn't recognise the timecode as belonging to the V1. This is some kind of XF to DNX MetaData issue. How do we raise this with Avid?

Also, when I use the timecode plugin to display source timecode, that doesn't work either. As you say, it displays in the V1 window above the source monitor, but it doesn't seem to behave as it should with other functions. This made we worry that re-linking might not work properly, so as soon as I'd made the rough cut under AMA I transcoded the sequence to a DNX resolution.

I also noticed when I group clipped the XF footage with my XDCAM footage, the XF window had no timecode displayed when I switch to that window. There seems to be something seriously wrong going on here. I've been pulling my hair out trying to get it to work. Only solution I can think of is to add aux timecode? All the other editors on the same show are experiencing the same issue so it's not my stupidity.
