Re: [Avid-L2] Editing on your feet

We did it years ago for an offline bay, cutting mostly narrative. I liked it, but I wasn't in the bay 10 hours at a time. The other editors using the bay (who were there longer) did NOT particularly like it- I ended up buying a rather pricey architect's stool... then eventually switching to a more conventional setup.

But, like I said, I liked it, so you might try it. The projects we had at the time were not presented to the client in that room, so I can't say how that part will go. Rather than just rigging it up, you can do it with a 'jerker' desk from Ikea as an experiment - if that's enough table space for you, it's relatively inexpensive.

We have been talking about the physical health aspects of sitting for 10+ hours a day and most of the guys want to make a go of it as well, as long as I can survive it. Any recommendation other than the cinder blocks and padded mat I'm going to try? Also, have you had any issues with clients or coworkers and their reactions to the new stance. One of my guys brought up the theory that a sitting client may get subconscious body cues that could be intimidating rather than inviting. I would love to hear your take on it.
