One thing that is worth noting is that import via AMA avoids certain problems with the gamma level that are present for a long time now with normal importing. With certain codecs eg. Prores it was impossible to have a transparent import, maintaining all component values intact, with a normal import. Via AMA+transcode this seems no longer to be a problem.
As a simple test, I exported a greyscale from FCP in Prores, verifying linearity in the waveform monitor. I then imported into Avid. Via AMA the ramp remained linear, with normal import (regardless of the 601/RGB setting) the clip needed a gamma correction applied of about 1.2 to get it linear again.

If you want to donate to Red Cross quake relief, you can do so through your cell phone. Text redcross to 90999 to make a $10 donation. It will be on your next cell bill.
