I've only used the Teranex mini and the Ki Pro for "easy" conversions
like upconverteing NTSC to 1080i, downconverting 1080i to NTSC, and
crossconverting 720p to 1080i. Since these require neither frame rate
changes nor de-interlacing, both boxes look fine.
I have a friend who does multicamera flypack "Image Magnification"
shoots for live stage shows. He has a bunch of widescreen NTSC
cameras pushing out component analog video. He converts to SD-SDI,
switches in a little Panasonic switcher, then feeds a Ki Pro which
bumps it to 1080i for the big projectors on stage. Just about
everybody *thinks* he's shooting HD. (The switcher has a Multiviewer
display on a plasma screen so the director can't see any native HD
anyway.) And the only recordings of the show come off the Ki Pro in
1080i too, so nobody's the wiser.
But sure, if I needed to do difficult conversions, I'd use a big Teranex.

If you want to donate to Red Cross quake relief, you can do so through your cell phone. Text redcross to 90999 to make a $10 donation. It will be on your next cell bill.
