Re: [Avid-L2] Re: Prores and avi mjpeg - what is the future?

Telestream has a product that encodes ProRes on a PC.

Apple ProRes is the de facto standard codec for interchange in our industry. That would be my choice over AVI.

We are asked to deliver and convert to it all time. Worth keeping a Mac around for. It is pretty quick to go from Avid's dnxHd to the ProRes format everybody seems to want.

For the moment I have been concentrating my efforts on prores 4444 and some kind of AVI MJPEG yet neither is very universal. Prores can only be encoded on a mac and needs QT. AVI MJPEG seems to have no proper standard and each manufacturer enjoys creating their own version. As the codec war is making choosing codecs that have some sort of future difficult, I was wondering how others are dealing with it?
