That's strange considering neither Avid or AJA mentioned that one. I do however feel that you may be right in this case so I want to see if I can get a keyspan to try the theory out. I'll keep you posted.

There are a range of USB-RS422 and USB-RS232 devices available pretty
cheap.
In fact, having paid more than $100 each in the past for RS232-422
converters I see I can now get the same thing for $7

Not sure how well they work, but it's all pretty basic really so I wouldn't
