Yeah the IO Express' serial port is not currently supported for serial
control (maybe in future?)

There are a range of USB-RS422 and USB-RS232 devices available pretty
cheap.

In fact, having paid more than $100 each in the past for RS232-422
converters I see I can now get the same thing for $7

They also have USB-RS422 for about $20

Not sure how well they work, but it's all pretty basic really so I wouldn't
expect major problems.

Be warned, if you haven't been to DealExtreme.com before - it can be very
addictive!
