[Avid-L2] 5D CRUSHED BLACKS

Working with 5d footage on AVID SYMPHONY and I am having an issue with the AMA WORKFLOW, where the CLIPS come in with the BLACKS seriously crushed, leaving no room for correction.

I am familiar with the conversion issues with 5D and 7D files crushing blacks in third party software and I understand that CANON has the EOS PLUGIN for FCP that brings the CLIPS IN WITHOUT LOSS.

Is there any way to get this footage into my AVID without loosing so much info in the SHADOWS or MID TONES? The Image is so crushed, it is nearly impossible to bring it up with out noticeable noise, or pasty skin tones, and we are working in a 24p project at 175 DNxHD in an OFFLINE WORKFLOW from AVID MC 5.0.3 to ONLINE AVID SYMPHONY 5.0.3, both MAC and PC in OFFLINE, PC only in ONLINE.

Any help would greatly appreciated.

Shawn
