But as far as Mid-range LCD monitors go I judge our JVC to have the closest color rendition to a CRT or at least a Pvm series CRT. However off angle is pretty poor compared to others. This has supposedly been much improved in newer jvc units.
We ended up building a suite that puts a 24 LCD square in front of the editor at eye level by lowering and recessing the bin and timeline monitors. Sort of a rough fix for off angle issues. Just don't sneeze.
We also keep a pvm series l5 14 on the same level to check for interlace issues which LCDs may mask.

you would be better suited spending the money on a decent external scope and learning what it means. These monitors will NEVER give you an accurate picture of what is in your blacks. And if you lean too far in one direction or another, you will see an entirely different color picture.
This has been hammered to death in the past. LCDs cannot give you a decent picture for CCing. Even "one light."
Lets hope Sony gives us a reasonably priced PVM version of LCD soon. The BVM is for folks with money to blow. :-(
