Re: [Avid-L2] Re: Avid Compatability Matrix: MC Soft/MAC

Hey Jesse,

The trouble with going outside of the 'compatibility' list - is that often things seem to work just fine - until you notice that something 'weird' is happening... like you can't export a certain video codec or edls won't write out... you just never know.

If you need to make the move, and you can't do the upgrade... you're stuck between a rock and a hard place.
Go for it - and if it doesn't work... well... then it doesn't work.

If you have a support contract with Avid, and you call with a question and your hardware/software isn't in spec with that list... they won't even listen to your problem... you'll get the 'reinstall your OS, and see if you still have the same problem'. So, if you need Avid to support you - DON'T go outside of those specs. If you are supporting yourself... try it out... see what happens! :)

Another wrinkle... make sure your mac can run the older OS... The new towers won't even boot up with a 10.5 OS. (I know that part from experience)
