I just opened it in AMA and played it. I then tried transcoding to DNxHD 145 and
it asked if
I wanted to convert the framerate and I said yes.
It looked marginally better when I did this, but really not acceptable.

How are you converting in Avid? Are you opening the footage in a 59.94 project?
It should automatically ad the pulldown if you do.
