We have an Adrenaline system running MC 5.0.3 on an HP xw8600 with Windows XP SP3. We were considering upgrading to Mojo DX while Avid's promo pricing is still effective. Now that Avid has announced MC 5.5 and its support for the AJA Io Express, I am wondering if it would be a more cost-effective way to go.
Our Seniors use the system for capturing, editing, and outputting their film thesis projects (~15 min. short films).
The typical workflows are:
Shoot film > telecine to Mini DV > capture to 24p NTSC project > edit > EDL for DI; digital cut to DVCPro or QT export/DVD for viewing > film out
Shoot RED > transcode to MXF > import to 1080p project > edit > EDL for DI; digital cut to DVCPro or QT export/DVD for viewing > film out
We have no HD decks, and finishing is done off campus, so we don't really need HD capture or output.
The main issue for us would be how the effects processing and video decoding and playback capabilities of the AJA compares to the Mojo DX. Has anyone tried both interfaces?
