John,
You're missing the point.
You got a very sensitive camera with very little depth of field (and that is
what the video guys normally don't have but like)
It is dirt cheap, and you can get very good lenses for close to nothing.
It is compact, so special mounts are simple, and if it goes wrong, well, it
is dirt cheap....
It is not a cam for production work, but a great tool for indy / student
stuff.
(The audio is horrible, you ain't got a return so it's guessing what you are
recording, and the connector is a joke, so dual system sound is needed
ALWAYS, if you need sound...)
For a viewfinder, if you get a Zacuto add-on, it is great. (Nothing more
than a lens you put in front of the LCD and sets you back 500 bucks, but it
is very much needed...)
But indeed, forget about adjusting the iris during a shot. Zooming can be
done, but depends on the lens how it works out.
Great for eye candy, sucks for production work.
(12 min. recording time max isn't working for a lot of normal work, shoulder
work is possible but requires a lot of experience and a rig that is more
expensive than the camera itself.)
