Re: [Avid-L2] 1080 23.98 psf to 25 1080 50i question...

Correct- at least in theory. Haven't do this exact procedure because we get a better picture by setting the deck in 50i and playing the picture back fast (by 4.1% iirc) If the duration's not critical, that's a better way to go. That's been standard for getting 24 to 25 for ages. If you use the Avid motion effect, which will be invoked automatically when you bring the 2398 bin into the 50 project, you may notice some minor temporal artifacts - because you're creating extra frames - but the audio should be at the exact same speed. I would do it that way only if the duration was critical. Full disclosure, I can't remember doing the 50i playback of 23.98 from SR- only from HDCam- but the results should be the same. The SR has better electronics, so, in fact, the results may be better!

Am i correct in thinking that we can digitise in to a 23.98 project then open the bin in a 50i project and symphony will add a motion adapter to the clip and let us play it out as 25 frames? This is a bit urgent so any help would be really appreciated. I had a quick search but couldn't find anything. We're going to be playing out to an HDCAM SR. If this is correct what effect will this have on the audio? will it be slowed slightly? will that be noticeable?
