I played with it when it came out, and thought "Impressive technology, but so what", then I forgot that it was included in MC and went back to my usual way of cutting. Until one day I started cutting a doc about George W and we were getting the original speeches to congress. 1 hour long, sometimes 2 hours, predigitized by an assistant. I realised that the transcriptions word for word of those speeches were available online. "Why not try ScriptSync then" I thought. What a dramatic improvement to my workflow!
Now I'm cutting a fiction, and started to use it on every dialog heavy scene. It's great, I love it, the director loves it. Can't see myself going back to my old way of cutting, I would feel that I'm always missing on something.
So basically, if I had to pay $1000 to discover it, I would have never got into it. And it's not a 5 minutes demo that would have changed my mind about it. And if I'm cutting on a rented machine, I can't really see how I'm going to convince the owner to pay that amount for an option that he's never heard about and won't let him increase the price of the rental anyway...
As someone pointed out, this system of options is soooo "old Avid", the company we hated. Ok, they don't have the financial power of Apple, but when you buy FCS, you get all those extra apps that only a few people use anyway. Is Apple removing any of them? Quite the opposite: they keep adding stuff to the suite. Guess it has some kind of effect on the consumer "look at what you get for that price". We don't know the behind the scenes trades that went between Avid and Nexidia, but there must be a better system for both of them... and for us!

> I disagree; now it is worth money to resellers/Avid they may actually demo it or point editors to the many on line demos of the feature that exist. Job already posted one.
> If the producer/director/editor/facility owner can't see the value, then fair enough.
