eer, nope. This works just fine. I use it all the time, ingest entire tapes
/ disks, have my clients log proxies and generate an ALE.
(using my own logging software)
Then i import these ALE's using merge, and i end up with subclips with the
correct duration / in-out start-end and logging info.
Does that not work for you?

Not sure I'm following Bouke. Will "merge to known master clips"
override the basic need for start TC and duration to be the same? That would
defy all logic in the Avid universe.
