[Avid-L2] Matching Canvas Size to Image Size in Photoshop?

To create an alpha channel for a full frame image, like a page of a document, I have to increase the canvas size a little bigger than the image size to enable the ability to modify/contract the selection area by 1 pixel to avoid black edges when importing the matte key image.  After contracting the alpha channel and filling it with white is there a quick way to resize the canvas to match the image size?  I found a way to copy image and or canvas sizes from another open document but can't seem to find a way other than manually copying the size parameters.  Anybody got a suggestion?  I haven't had a problem with the enlarged canvas size but it seems messy.
