[Avid-L2] Firewire Drive only shows files in MXF Folder on PC not on Mac?

Got an older Maxtor One Touch 4 Plus drives.  When I mount on a two year old Imac running OS 10.4.11 I see folders including the Avid MediaFiles.  Stepping into the folder I see MXF folder but nothing inside.  Mounting the drive on my PC running XP mediacenter editiion I see the media files in the MXF folder inside the #1 folder.  When mounted on the Mac the info says Format= Windows NT Filesystem.  On the PC properties says NTFS format.  I was able to copy the files to another PC formatted FW drive and that showed the files properly on the MAC.  Any idea why the mac doesn't see the #1 folder inside the MXF folder?  For a test I took a FW 800 to FW 400 cable and hooked the problematic drive up to my relatively new MBP OS 10.5.8 and I can see the #1 folder and the media inside.  Well I'm confused as hell, nothing new there but if it was some sort of chip set incompatibility between the Imac and the drive I wouldn't expect to see any folders on
the drive.  Very wierd but I've got a work around.  Love to learn something new here besides the need to always have several computers available to troubleshoot.
