Quite true. Since when did I have a choice? A&E Biography is what it
is, but I like it. What would you suggest I do? Write A&E and tell
them to up their game?

Now if I happen to have the opportunity to watch the same show on two
channels, and one is HD, I'll choose the HD channel. But I'm not
going to watch the Tonight show in HD if I could be watching It Might
Get Loud in SD (not that IMGT is technically poor).

Further, I'm not a believer that Technical standards have dropped
except maybe on average. And that's merely because there is so much
more content now, and the additional content is produced to lower
standards because it's not possible to produce dramatically increased
volume at the highest standards.

Go back and watch 20 year old PBS shows, or for that matter Sanford
and Sons or Three's Company. You seriously want to make the case that
"quality" standards have dropped?
