[Avid-L2] Re: NitrisDX HDMI output YCbCr vs RGB No change?

I'm trying to regain my sanity for one but since you asked. It's a new bay, new monitor, new footage that is crappy. At least I have a good scope which I trust but I wanted to make sure when I was trying to balance the Pioneer Plasma to a Sony PVM 20L5 I wasn't somehow creating an issue comparing the HDMI feed to the Plasma to the HD component feed to the 20L5. When I could see no difference between HDMI settings I thought there might be some subtle gamma like issues between the settings that was creating a discrepancy between the monitors. It seems to my tired eyes the plasma is pulling the near blacks down a bit more than the CRT. This may be some sort of enhancement that helps give better looking blacks on the monitor. I'm not about to start digging for advanced menus on the plasma at this stage since the monitors are close depending on the video content. If Avid does lock the HDMI to YUV in an interlaced project it would be nice if it wouldn't let you toggle the settings in the video output pull down menu leading me to believe the HDMI was truely set to RGB. If there is really a drastic difference between the two I aint seeing it, which seems to support your information. I was starting to wonder if I could be seeing something like the difference in the betasp version of component signals vs regular component signals that I remember hearing about back in the day but never really spent much time in a component enviroment to really suss that one out. Bottom line is everything is working okay but I usually like to ring a bay out before I start color correcting but the weekend all by myself session with no AC or tech support, as if that exists anywhere these days. I will take some time tomorrow to see if a progressive project generates a noticable shift but now It's time to head out. Thanks everyone for the suggestions. I'll keep you posted.
