My guess is we haven't seen it yet. Somewhere it is being developed or already exists right now. It will have to network at least as well as MC does at this point, but it will need to be much faster, very cheap (maybe even free, think open-source) and able to run seamlessly on any platform.

Remember, MC is 20 year old code. FCP is at least 12 year old code. That is the stone age by today's standards.
