[Avid-L2] OT: Macbook Batteries

OK, How common is this now?

I know this was an issue a couple of years ago, but are people still
having problems with Mac book batteries? Over the past week, my 3 or 4
year old MacBook suddenly stopped sitting level on the desk top, and
started doing strange things with the touch pad. It would also shut off
without warning, even though the battery showed a full charge.

When I started poking around, I discovered the battery - which had been
replaced when a previous battery had the same problem - is swollen and
bulging. I was under the impression that this issue had been solved
with the replacement battery.

I'm trying to decide how obnoxious to get with my local Mac dealer over
the cost of a new battery since I really didn't expect this to happen
with the replacement battery.

Really makes me nervous to get a new MacBook where you can't change the
battery. If this happens with the new model, it will trash the whole
machine.
