I do it externally via my .Mac account by enabling the "Back To My
Mac" hoopajoopa in the whatchamacallit settings. Takes a little
noodling and semi-specific firewall requirements but it does work as
advertised.
I also use straight up "Screen Sharing" internally - it's handy for
quite a variety of things. Plus, I drive the Windows boxes here
(servers / file crunchers) using Microsoft's free Remote Desktop
Connection for Mac. I use that both internally and externally.
