[Avid-L2] Re: Industry Advice

Dear Cutandrender,

Aside from the sage advice already dispensed, here's another thought.
If you're trying to "get a break" or get noticed, then why are you hiding behind an alias?
Haven't you noticed that most people on this list use their full names?

This is a community of professionals who stand by their comments and don't hide behind an anonymous moniker like "cutandrender". You want to get a job? You've already reached dozens of people who could probably hire you if they wanted to. But... what do we know about you? Not even your name! How about posting interesting questions, comments, or even OT info. If you've got what it takes to get noticed (in a good way) by this crowd, then somebody just might reach out and contact you about an opportunity.

This has nothing to do with technology. It's networking (human) 101.

When I browse online to look for job openings all I see are Final Cut Pro jobs. I live in L.A. and I'm pretty sure it's still an Avid town so are the Avid shops just not hiring or do you really have to know someone in the industry to catch a break? I'm willing to start at the bottom even as a logger just as long as I'm working on an Avid. Don't get me wrong...I like FCP and know it well it's just I prefer working on Avid as I'm sure most of you do too.
