[Avid-L2] OT: Grass Valley 110 switcher tally lights - Epilogue

Shades of a Quinn-Martin Production with the epilogue, but I wanted to let everyone know how much I appreciated the input on my query and the final outcome. Not only did I get terrific advice from the group, but a couple of folks passed my predicament on to co-workers who contacted me off-list with additional information. Randy Patrick of PCS Production Co. in Irving, Texas emailed me with a detailed description of how his 110 switcher was configured which confirmed what I suspected from the other info I received that I had just missed the tally common pin. Then on Tuesday afternoon my phone rang and it was Chris Merrill - Product Manager, Live Production for Grass Valley in Nevada City, California calling to tell me that in their archives he had found a manual for the model 110 switcher and provided me with a scan via email of the 4 pages related to hooking up the tally lights and the GPI triggers! Can you believe that service?!?! I didn't even have to call for Tech Support – they called ME! LOL

On Tuesday evening I visited the local non-profit's studio and hooked up the tally lights – they work perfectly! Thanks again to everyone that contributed to this thread and a successful solution to my problem.

This is a testament to the power of this list and the generous nature of mankind in general. I'm sure the time of year didn't hurt either. Goodwill towards all, etc.

Happy Holiday's to all on the Avid-L2!

I help out a local non-profit with their studio shoots and recently their old Echolab switcher gave up the ghost. Fortunately they received a donation of an old Grass Valley 110 switcher just in time. Unfortunately it came without a manual and I'm having no luck in sorting out how to hook up the tally lights to the Sony camera control units. The Sony's want a contact closure to light up and while I see a group of pins on the back of the Grass Valley labeled Tally I'm not measuring a voltage or a contact closure from any of the pins labeled 1-8 and the pin labeled ground.
