[Avid-L2] OT: FCP P2 Ingest

I don't know. Were you doing this direct from the card? Through a card reader? That would be very slow. I normally get P2 files already copied to cheap hard drives. These are usually USB, which is typically slower on Macs than PCs. In any case, I only use FCP's Log & Transfer and import it all. Time is consistent with USB transfer times in general. Figure about 60-100GB per hour at best.

FCP has to open the MXF files, interleave the audio & video and rewrap into QuickTime MOVs. That's the process while it's copying the files. It's also tracking the appropriate metadata.
