You can time-stretch or -compress audio in After Effects, render a new
audio file. You can use Audio Suite/Time Compression Expansion in the
Avid, and export an aif file to use as your new audio original.

Or you could just cut the audio to fit picture and export a new audio
file. The advantage of the later is that no sample rate conversion
would occur.
