[Avid-L2] Time to launch "manage connections" on Lanshare/Unity?

Today I noticed I can consume an entire Frosted Strawberry Pop Tart in the time it takes to open "Manage Connections" on Mac OS 10.5.6.  I'm not talking about launching connection manager the app but with it running opening the Manage Connections window.  I'm connected on the 2nd ethernet port on the mac pro tower.  It seems to take 30 seconds or more just to open.  Is this typical?  I don't spend much time on unitys so I don't have a feel for this, but I do like pop tarts.
