That would be a real shame. Of the few RED jobs I've posted, each was with an good DP who was new to the camera. Each swore by having a good DIT who knew the camera. Not the least importance was someone who realized when the camera was overheating and about to shut itself down... but that's another story.

The exposure issue as I see it is that there's not a clear understanding of how the camera uses ISO numbers. It's a slow sensor rated at 320 but many DPs think it's really down around 200 or 250. Nevertheless, people crank it up to 500 and above, because they don't light well enough. In the monitor on the set, the image appears to look fine. In reality it is underexposed and will get grainy/noisy in post. Not having a knowledgeable DIT results in often mistaken monitor set ups, improper camera settings and disappointment at the end of the line.
