The only real downside for us is the GPU. If you expect to hold on to the box for 3-5 years, that GPU will fall behind.

I haven't followed the shredder version of the Mac Pro much after it came out years back but IIRC the cost could easily get into th $20K range with hanging on all the bells and whistles like afterburner etc... I just looked at the order configuration and when I check full tilt on everything but the magic mouse track pad stuff it comes up under $12K. Has something changed in the pricing structure or are they just not listing things like the after burner cards etc...?
