The price looks correct. Previously, the biggest factor with the price was which Intel CPU you selected. Apple makes them now. 

The only real downside for us is the GPU. If you expect to hold on to the box for 3-5 years, that GPU will fall behind.

Just looking at some of the stuff from today's Apple Event.  I haven't followed the shredder version of the Mac Pro much after it came out years back but IIRC the cost could easily get into th $20K range with hanging on all the bells and whistles like afterburner etc...  I just looked at the order configuration and when I check full tilt on everything but the magic mouse track pad stuff it comes up under $12K.  Has something changed in the pricing structure or are they just not listing things like the after burner cards etc...?  The wheels are still $400 so I guess some things never change.
