Mimiq is not required for EditShare - they run their own version and it's quite stable and good.
My guess is that the client installer isn't invoking some handshake with the Mac security preferences that would allow this operation. I only used EditShare on Macs prior to the world of security "allow" prefs, so I would look there. Perhaps adding the EditShare client to Full Disk Access or something else would allow AvidStyle prefs to install correctly? To use Avid bin locking on a non Avid hardware, we had to get extra software which mimics the Avid volume system. It's called... Mimic.
There is another one made by a British company.
Maybe that's the element you're missing?
