Re: [Avid-L2] Way way way WAAAYYYY old dongle question/issue

I know that on newer systems, you need to install the Sentinel Driver (included in the Avid Utilities folder). But this is an older system, and should be recognized without having to do that (if I remember correctly). It may be worth looking down this road anyway.

This is for probably for the old timers.

I pulled an older MacPro (5,1) off the shelf.  Formated the drive and installed OSX 10.6.8 (Snow Leopard) on it and ran updates.  Then installed Media Composer 4.0.5 on it (if you REALLY need to know why and can get in to that later, but does it really matter?). MC seems to be fine.  But the system won't see the dongle.

The dongle is recognized on my regular Media Composer system.  Avid Link sees the dongle and tells me the system ID and serial number and also tells me that it's perpetual for v4 of Media Composer.

But I put the dongle back onto the system I'm setting up and it doesn't see it.  The dongle is recognized as a device on the USB when I check System Profiler.  But Dongle Manager does not see the dongle at all and says No Dongle Found.  The version of Dongle Manager I installed is 7.0.2

Also, Dongle Manager won't see ANY Avid dongle I attach.

I'm sure it's got something to do with some driver compatibility for the dongle security or some such thing but I'm at a bit of a road block.  I installed the PACE drives that came with the MC 4.0.5 installer.  So in theory they should be fine.

Any ideas of how to get this system to see the dongle?

Thank you very much for any time you want to waste on this nonsense.
