Thanks all for your helpful comments. Perhaps the word 'archive' was misleading. I will be keeping both the DV tapes and the original DV files captured via firewire, but I need to make smaller COPIES to distribute to family members... so bearing that in mind, do you have suggestions for a list of settings as per original post? Thanks very much indeed!
